know a x Navy man who worked up from seaman to O3 or O5. He admits that the navy confuses the other branches for you don't often have a rank insignia and name chart. I found myself just chatting with an Admiral in the terminal at Osaka. He was too tall to see what was on his shoulders, but there was no room for more gold on his sleeve. Most officers are nice guys. I really tried to be one, but manpower said no.
